Swedish Covenant Hospital, Chicago, IL
screening site
Join us for a free screening of “What’s on Your Plate,” a documentary which follows two tweens as they explore their place in the food chain. With the camera as their companion, the girls talk to food activists, farmers, new friends, storekeepers, their families and the viewer in their quest to understand what’s on all of our plates. The girls question the origin of the food they eat, how it’s cultivated, how many miles it travels from the harvest to their plate, how it’s prepared, who prepares it and what is done afterward with the packaging and leftovers. They visit supermarkets, fast food chains and school lunchrooms, as well as farms, greenmarkets and community supported agriculture programs. Listen to their story of hope and active community engagement and then get fun fitness and health tips from the Galter LifeCenter and Swedish Covenant Hospital. Enjoy complimentary healthy snacks during the screening. This program is sponsored by MyFoodshed.com, Purple Asparagus and Swedish Covenant Hospital. NOTE: Due to program content, this event is limited to children ages 8 and older, along with their families. Adults are welcome to attend on their own. Free parking is available in the hospital garage on Sundays.
