The historic Roxy Theater is one of Missoula's treasured landmarks. For years the Roxy had served as a dollar theater, then stood vacant after it was gutted by a devastating fire in 1994. After it was remodeled, the commercial cinema couldn't make it and gave up.
In 2002, the International Wildlife Media Center took a major step in its development by campaigning to purchase the theater and breathe new life into it. Today, the Roxy's three theaters can be rented by the general public for special events, such as family gatherings, slideshows with friends or professional colleagues, artistic performances, lectures and art exhibits. The IWMC stages its own events here; serving as an art gallery stop, wildlife film matinees for all ages throughout the year, special speaker/film events, and other gatherings.
